Big News!

Tony and I are having a very exciting week but the most exciting news by far is that Tony got a promotion at work! His actual job title has a lot of acronyms and other confusing words so I'll wait for him to post and let yall know what exactly he's doing. The biggest difference for me is that I'll have to learn how to iron! Tony is no longer working outside in the 120 degree heat wearing jeans. He's now a Dockers man with a desk! Congrats baby! I'm proud of you!

Our other big news is that our plane is taking off in 10 hours for our vacation in Germany and Austria! We are so excited!!! Other people go to Europe to see castles and cathedrals-Tony and I are going to see trees, and mountains, and ...even grass! We're going for a week and a half and will be sure to post plenty of pictures when we get back!

Last weekend we went to Oman. (Until I get my visa I have to leave and re-enter the county every 60 days.) The most exciting thing about this trip was I got to see TONS of camels!
I love camels and have only seen one since we've been here. Where we crossed the border this time though they were everywhere! Tony pulled off the side of the road so I could take pictures. I haven't gotten to ride one yet but I will definitly do that before we go back to the States.
Where we crossed the border this time was really beautiful...if you think red desserts and rocky "mountains" are beautiful. It's funny how much people from the kingdom of Oman LOVE Americans. When the passport guard found out we were from the States he goes"Oh we love Americans! Welcome to Oman! Stay as long as you like! Welcome! Welcome!" We didn't have the heart to tell him we were just going to make a U-turn and go back to the UAE to get my passport stamped.
When we were entering the UAE again one weird thing did happen. Tony has a visa, but in order to get my passport stamped they made us pull over so I could take an "eye test." The eye test turned out to be a retina scan. How bizarre! They actually scanned my eyeball for identifcation purposes! I guess it's supposed to be a 100% acurrate unlike fingerprints.
Well I guess I should go and finish packing! Tony and I are spending our first night in Germany at a small, family owned winery right on the Rhine. I can't wait!

Anniversaries and Catching Up

Ok so we haven't posted in almost a month so it's time to play a little catch up.

My parents celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on the 2nd.

Congratulations to them!!! We love you guys! Then on the 7th Tony and I had our 3rd Anniversary. We had big plans to go to a fancy dinner the weekend before and then have a nice dinner our actual anniversary with a great bottle of Amarone (which is hard to find here).

Unfortunately, Tony got sick with the universe's worst head cold ever right before last weekend so we couldn't go out and by the end of the weekend I had it too. We spent our anniversary with me laying on the couch in my sweats and Tony taking care of me after work. We did have some great Italian delievered though!
The good news is we decided to celebrate our anniversary in Germany and Austria instead (Hopefully we will have recovered by then!). We leave in two weeks and one day! We've bought the plane tickets, rented the car, and have all but one of our hotels reserved. We are so excited it's hard for me not to start packing now!
I've taught Tony his two key phrases: "Spechen Sie English?" ("Do you speak English?") and "Ein Bier bitte" ("One beer please.")
